Myth#3 “Her Marriage Is Perfect.”

musings-footprints

We woman are always tempted to fantasise about a “perfect” world. We fantasise that someone else’s marriage is perfect and if only like hers, our lives would be perfect too. But that’s a myth. What we see is only the good part. Marriage that looks all perfect also has a darker side.

What we see is…..

Her husband compliments her in public. He has a great job, provides with all comfortable lifestyle. They have beautiful home in a gated neighbourhood, drive new Lexus, have a beautiful baby boy.

But what we dont see is …

What her husband does when he is stressed, he gets angry.  He keeps a mental list of all things she does wrong in his eyes. We don’t see behind closed doors, he calls her stupid, incompetent. He’d punch holes in walls that she carefully covers with framed prints. We don’t see his rages.

We know nothing that..

She gets angry on herself. This is her second marriage, and she told herself that she would never go through another divorce. She only wishes she was as naive about her problems as everyone else seems to be.

There are no perfect marriages because there are no perfect people. And when we compare with others, they are more than few problems.

  1. Fantasies are selective. Envy focuses on only good part of person’s life:  car, marriage, career, clothes, riches, children, home….
  2. Fantasies thrive on miss information. When we think someones’s life is perfect, we never know the serious hidden issues.
  3. Fantasies of perfection prevent us from realistically working on our own problems and make emotional progress.
  4. We do each other a terrible disservice by believing, feeding, envying and perpetuating the lie of a perfect life.

Lets stop believing lie that some else marriage is perfect. Instead lets seek Gods’ vision to see things like He does. A successful marriage requires a vision greater than itself, a vision that is beyond earthly limitations and confusions.

Myth# 2 “I’l never be free from my past.”

I’m sure everyone of us at some point in our lives feel like we are the only one with something to hide right!? That sense of isolation magnifies our feelings of guilt.

There are these all kinds of feelings that creep into our head -like…

”I feel I’ve lived 2 or 3 different lives. And if any one those past lives ever catches up with me, then everything I can safely call my own today is gone. I fear someone somewhere will claim to know what I’m really like. Yesterday mistakes sneak into my thoughts while i’m soaked into a beautiful moment and enjoying it. When my husband or a friend or my boss compliments me, I beam a sense of accomplishment until I begin to remember my failures. Will I ever be free from it?”

We still carry a secret burden. As bright as our future is and never free from our past.

Satan always wants us to feel alone. Every person on this earth has a past – even those we consider ‘Mother Teresa’ types who seemingly never did anything wrong. Book of Genesis from Bible describes that we have inherited a sinful nature from Adam and Eve.

However, we must understand and accept that we are all free from the penalty of our past because Jesus Christ has sacrificed His life and made the final payment for our mistakes and sins on the cross. Even so sometimes pain of our past comes calling. Many woman have an emotional disposition or personality type that lends itself dwelling on bitter memories. Its the devil who always misuses this sensitivity to accuse and discourage us. He often tempts our thoughts with guilt over past deeds. And we end up responding to his perverse persuasion by feeling as if we don’t deserve the love of family or friends, much less God’s love.

Satan tries to slip chains of guilt back on our shoulders. But Jesus Christ has already set us free! He paid the FULL penalty for our sins. Every wrong thought, every wrong decision, wrong word, wrong action – all paid for.

Do not every believe the lie. God has set you free; Jesus Christ died on the cross thousands of years ago that you and I would live free. But we must choose to live that way.

‘SO if Christ sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36’

Myth#1 “My In-Laws Will love Me”

Everyone has a desire to be loved and appreciated. Wouldn’t it be great if all in-law relationships were as close and loving as that of Ruth and her mother-in-law Naomi from bible? Yet many aren’t.

Many of us woman when we marry, we have this hope that everything would be finally  perfect. If we never had much of a family earlier or have never  been close to mother we tend to ask God to give us a family that we could feel close to.

We finally marry this man who comes from a big, loving  (so we think) family, with many sisters and brothers. Husband assures “They’ll love you, just like you”.

Everything seems good in the beginning. Mother-in-law talks lovingly and compliments. Dad-in-law  seems to like us and so does the siblings. But slowly things change, mother-in-law seems so critical about the way we cook, clean or take care of husband, children etc.  Dad-in-law later acts like we don’t exist and siblings have their own expectations.

Its like we cant do anything right.?!!!

We woman keep thinking that it would get better. Years pass by and it still doesn’t and finally come to point thinking we are not really part of the family.

It’s not that in-laws are evil. We just thought we’d be closer!!!

Well, some desires turn into expectations – expectations that may or may not be met. when it comes to relationships among imperfect people in a fallen world, there are no guarantees. Only God can love us in a way that exceeds our expectations. (see John 3:16;14:23). Our God is free from human biases and imperfections that mar our relationships.

Love is choice – an act of the will, rather than a feeling. During His time on earth, Jesus chose to love and serve others each and everyday. He came with an agenda- to show the full extent of his love (See John 13:1).

Like Jesus, we woman can choose to love our in-laws regardless of how they treat us. By choosing to love with the love of God, we choose to focus on what we can give, rather what we haven’t received. We can also choose to forgive.

But choosing to love doesn’t mean we turn into a doormat. The choice to love can also mean love ourselves enough to establish boundaries, particularly in relationships where abuse is involved. Tough love is still love.

“Love is patient…..

It doesn’t dishonour other,

it is not self-seeking

it is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs.  1 Corinthians :4-5”

Poem from Kari Jobe’s Song “Forever”

If there are words for Him then I don’t have them.

See my brain has not yet reached the point where it could form a thought that could adequately describe the greatness of my God.

And my lungs have not yet developed the ability to release a breath with enough agility to breathe out the greatness of His Love.

And my voice, see my voice is so inhibited , restrained by human limits that it’s hard to even sing the praise up, you see, if there are words for Him, then I don’t have them.

My God, His Grace is remarkable, mercies are innumerable, strength is impenetrable, He is honorable, accountable, favorable.

He’s unsearchable yet knowable, indefinable, yet approachable, indescribable, yet personal

He is beyond comprehension, further than imagination, constant through generations, King of every nation, but if there are words for Him, then I don’t have them

You see my words are few to try and capture the ONE TRUE GOD, using my vocabulary will never do, but I use words as an expression, an expression of worship to a Savior, a Savior who is both worthy and deserving of my praise, so I use words.

My heart extols the Lord, blesses His Name forever. He has won my heart, captured my mind, and has bound them both together. He has defeated me in my rebellion, conquered me in my sin, He has welcomed me into His presence, completely invited me in. He has made Himself the object of my sight, flooding me with mercies in the morning, drowning me with Grace in the night, but if there are words for Him, then I don’t have them.

But what I do have is GOOD NEWS, for my God knew that manmade words would never do, for words are just tools that we use to point to the truth.

So He sent His Son Jesus Christ as THE WORD, LIVING PROOF, He is THE IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD, THE FIRST BORN OF ALL CREATION, FOR BY HIM ALL THINGS WERE CREATED, GIVING NOTHINGNESS, FORMATION.

AND BY HIS WORD HE SUSTAINS IN THE POWER OF HIS NAME. FOR HE IS BEFORE ALL THINGS AND ABOVE ALL THINGS HE REIGNS. HOLY IS HIS NAME!

SO PRAISE HIM FOR HIS LIFE! THE WAY HE PERSERVERED IN STRIFE. THE HUMBLE SON OF GOD BECOMING THE PERFECT SACRIFICE.

PRAISE HIM FOR HIS DEATH! THAT HE WILLINGLY STOOD IN OUR PLACE THAT HE LOVINGLY ENDURED THE GRAVE THAT HE BATTLED OUR ENEMY, AND ON THE THIRD DAY ROSE IN VICTORY.

HE IS EVEYTHING THAT WAS PROMISED.

PRAISE HIM AS THE RISEN KING.

LIFT YOUR VOICE AND SING, FOR ONE DAY HE WILL RETURN FOR US, AND WE WILL FINALLY BE UNITED WITH OUR SAVIOR FOR ENTERNITY! ETERNITY!

SO IT IS NOT JUST WORDS THAT I PROCLAIM, FOR MY WORDS POINT TO THE WORD, AND THE WORD HAS A NAME, HOPE HAS A NAME, JOY HAS A NAME, PEACE HAS A NAME, LOVE HAS A NAME, AND THAT NAME IS JESUS CHRIST!

5 Best tools to shorten URLs

In our everyday life, we often share information via email or many social networking sites like Google+, Twitter, Facebook etc., Posting or sharing long ugly URLs is painful and most of the times the long URLs are misread and misunderstood. Sometimes you are also limited to certain number of characters while sharing information, such as Twitter. To tackle this, you need tools that shorten URL’s. These tools simply shorten the regular long URL to a compressed format. The new short URL will redirect the user to the regular long URL.
There are several free URL shortener services available over the web. I am going to list the 5 best tools to shorten URLs.

  1. TinyURL.com

is one the most popular free URL shortener services. This tool has a very simple tool-bar with a preview feature. Make sure you enable cookies on your web browser to enable Preview feature. It also offers a bookmarklet for simple browser use.

  4. ow.ly

  5. lillink.com

is the one of best free tools I have come across over web with a very simple user- interface. You just have to paste the long URL and hit Shorten. Shortened URL is immediately copied and you can share the link via email or to social networking sites.  It doesn’t have tracking feature like the rest tools but it is just one cute tool with beautiful background slider that displays random images.
