Myth#3 “Her Marriage Is Perfect.”

We woman are always tempted to fantasise about a “perfect” world. We fantasise that someone else’s marriage is perfect and if only like hers, our lives would be perfect too. But that’s a myth. What we see is only the good part. Marriage that looks all perfect also has a darker side.

What we see is…..

Her husband compliments her in public. He has a great job, provides with all comfortable lifestyle. They have beautiful home in a gated neighbourhood, drive new Lexus, have a beautiful baby boy.

But what we dont see is …

What her husband does when he is stressed, he gets angry.  He keeps a mental list of all things she does wrong in his eyes. We don’t see behind closed doors, he calls her stupid, incompetent. He’d punch holes in walls that she carefully covers with framed prints. We don’t see his rages.

We know nothing that..

She gets angry on herself. This is her second marriage, and she told herself that she would never go through another divorce. She only wishes she was as naive about her problems as everyone else seems to be.

There are no perfect marriages because there are no perfect people. And when we compare with others, they are more than few problems.

  1. Fantasies are selective. Envy focuses on only good part of person’s life:  car, marriage, career, clothes, riches, children, home….
  2. Fantasies thrive on miss information. When we think someones’s life is perfect, we never know the serious hidden issues.
  3. Fantasies of perfection prevent us from realistically working on our own problems and make emotional progress.
  4. We do each other a terrible disservice by believing, feeding, envying and perpetuating the lie of a perfect life.

Lets stop believing lie that some else marriage is perfect. Instead lets seek Gods’ vision to see things like He does. A successful marriage requires a vision greater than itself, a vision that is beyond earthly limitations and confusions.

Myth# 2 “I’l never be free from my past.”

I’m sure everyone of us at some point in our lives feel like we are the only one with something to hide right!? That sense of isolation magnifies our feelings of guilt.

There are these all kinds of feelings that creep into our head -like…

”I feel I’ve lived 2 or 3 different lives. And if any one those past lives ever catches up with me, then everything I can safely call my own today is gone. I fear someone somewhere will claim to know what I’m really like. Yesterday mistakes sneak into my thoughts while i’m soaked into a beautiful moment and enjoying it. When my husband or a friend or my boss compliments me, I beam a sense of accomplishment until I begin to remember my failures. Will I ever be free from it?”

We still carry a secret burden. As bright as our future is and never free from our past.

Satan always wants us to feel alone. Every person on this earth has a past – even those we consider ‘Mother Teresa’ types who seemingly never did anything wrong. Book of Genesis from Bible describes that we have inherited a sinful nature from Adam and Eve.

However, we must understand and accept that we are all free from the penalty of our past because Jesus Christ has sacrificed His life and made the final payment for our mistakes and sins on the cross. Even so sometimes pain of our past comes calling. Many woman have an emotional disposition or personality type that lends itself dwelling on bitter memories. Its the devil who always misuses this sensitivity to accuse and discourage us. He often tempts our thoughts with guilt over past deeds. And we end up responding to his perverse persuasion by feeling as if we don’t deserve the love of family or friends, much less God’s love.

Satan tries to slip chains of guilt back on our shoulders. But Jesus Christ has already set us free! He paid the FULL penalty for our sins. Every wrong thought, every wrong decision, wrong word, wrong action – all paid for.

Do not every believe the lie. God has set you free; Jesus Christ died on the cross thousands of years ago that you and I would live free. But we must choose to live that way.

‘SO if Christ sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36’
